After Kohima, a Signature Campaign on Clean Election & Informed and Ethical Voting was held at Jakhama SDO (C) office with Kohima Systematic Voters Electoral and Education Participation (SVEEP) icon Esther Natso on Wednesday.
The campaign was also held at Tseminyu on Tuesday. It was held in Kohima on Februsary 19.
Jakhama SDO (C) and RO, 14 & 15 Southern Angami – I & II Assembly constituencies, Alemyapang Longchar, in his address, stressed the importance of ethical, informed and inclusive voting.
Saying that booth level officers (BLOs) are agents to spread information on clean and ethical voting, he exhorted them to educate voters on their rights under the Constitution. He also requested the political representatives present not to induce voters with money or threats.
The RO expressed hope that the 14 & 15 Southern Angami assembly constituencies will have an ethical and informed voting and set an example for other constituencies to follow.
Esther Natso, in her speech, said there are cases where people have rejected money when being offered and supported the Clean Election campaign. She felt that to change it all at once may be hard but believes that if each one plays his or her part, change will come. She called upon the elders to be the first to set an example on clean and ethical voting.
The Signature Campaign programme was chaired by I Changsang, Kohima EAC & ARO, 14 Southern Angami-I Assembly constituency.
The signature campaign programme also witnessed the playing of Kohima SVEEP anthem and signatures supporting clean election, signed by the officials, BLOs, political representatives and Village Councils under Southern Angami village.
During signature campaign on clean election at Tseminyu on Tuesday, Kohima SVEEP Icon Esther said voting should not be a result of inducement by money power but an individual choice.
