Veteran CPI (M) leader and former MLA Hemen Das has tested positive for the Covid-19.
CPI (M) party sources said the 90-year-old communist leader was admitted to GNRC Hospital in Guwahati on Friday morning after he complained of uneasiness at his residence in the city.
The senior CPI (M) leader tested Covid-19 positive in the RT-PCR test on Friday evening.
Sources said he is undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital and his condition is stable.
Das represented the Sorbhog constituency in the Assam Legislative Assembly for three terms.
Earlier on Thursday, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramen Deka has tested positive for Covid-19.
MP Deka was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday.
