India broke its earlier record of Covid19 deaths in 24 hours as the country on Wednesday reported 4,529 more deaths, which is the highest number of deaths due to infection.

According to the Union health ministry data released on Wednesday morning, India reported 2,67,533 new Covid19 cases in the last 24 hours.

On Tuesday, India reported 2.63 lakh new Covid19 cases, which was the lowest since April 21.

New Covid19 cases came down below the 3-lakh- mark for the first time on May 17.

On May 7, India had recorded its highest ever cases of 4,14,188.

Maharashtra continues to record the highest number of deaths so far.

According to the health ministry data, India’s overall Covid19 tally now stands at 2,54,96,330 with 32,26,719 active cases and 2,83,248 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry data, a total of 3,89,851 patients have been discharged after their recovery from the disease.

So far, a total of 2,19,86,363 people have recovered from the disease.

A total of 18,58,09,302 people have been vaccinated so far in India.

According to the health ministry, a total of 13,12,155 people received Covid19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours.

In the second quarter of May 2021 (May 18-31, 2021), 1.95 crore doses would be made available free of cost by central government to all states/UTs, the Union health ministry said.

This advance information has already been shared with states/UTs by the Indian government.

In addition, 72.40 lakh doses would be available for direct procurement by the states/UTs, the health ministry said.
