Police rescued 98 cattleheads and arrested four cattle smugglers in two different cases during the last 48 hours in Western Assam’s Dhubri district.

Acting on a tip off, Dhubri police on Tuesday night chased two boats in river Brahmaputra carrying 98 cattle meant for smuggling to Bangladesh and rescued it.

Meanwhile, in continuing their drive against the cattle smuggling and recent series of riverine operations, Dhubri police arrested four smugglers from different locations of the district on Wednesday.

The arrested accused persons have been identified as Saddam Ali, Mofizul Houqe, Abdul Kader Jilani and Miraj Ahmed.

Police said all four accused are also involved in anti-national activities including Hawala as well as White Collar Crimes.
