Guwahati: A police team in Assam’s Dhubri district seized a significant amount of cannabis and apprehended two individuals during a routine check on National Highway 17 on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, officers stopped two cars and discovered 203.75 kg of ganja concealed within them.

The cannabis was packed into 46 bundles and found in vehicles bearing license plates TR-05F-0772 and TR-01BH-0787.

The arrested individuals were identified as Raj Kumar Sarkar and Bijay Das, residents of Tripura.

Initial reports suggest the vehicles were travelling from Agartala, Tripura, to Siliguri, West Bengal, with the cannabis likely intended for distribution in the West Bengal region.

An investigation has been initiated in connection with the seizure.
