Putting all speculations to rest of him becoming Chief Minister of Assam, if the Congress-led Grand Alliance wins the Assam Assembly elections, Badruddin Ajmal said that his party – the AIUDF, will support a Congress Chief Minister post elections.

“AIUDF looks forward to supporting a Congress Chief Minister after 2 May,” said AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal.

Badruddin Ajmal further said that as per his sources Congress-led Grand Alliance has swept the first phase of Assam Assembly elections.

“I am very happy to hear from my friends in upper Assam that the Congress led Mahajot has swept the first phase,” said Badruddin Ajmal.

AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal added that the Congress-led Grand Alliance will win at least 30 seats out of the 47 seats that went to polls in the first phase of Assam Assembly elections.

“The lowest figure I am hearing from anyone is 30 seats,” said Badruddin Ajmal.

The first phase of Assam Assembly elections were held on Saturday (March 27).

47 constituencies in 12 upper Assam districts went to polls in the first phase of Assam Assembly elections held on Saturday.

77 percent voter turnout was recorded in the first phase of Assam Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the parties, who are a part of the Assam Congress-led Grand Alliance have intensified campaigning for the second and third phase of Assam Assembly elections.

Top Congress leader and former Deputy CM of Rajasthan – Sachin Pilot was in Silchar, for election campaigning on Sunday ahead of the second phase of Assam Assembly elections.

Sachin Pilot was accompanied by top Assam Congress leader Sushmita Dev in the election campaigning in Silchar on Sunday.

Speaking at a public rally in Silchar, Sachin Pilot said that youth of Assam need employment opportunities.

“Today, Assam’s biggest necessity is employment opportunities,” Congress leader Sachin Pilot said.

“We represent the youth of Assam. It is my guarantee that Congress will provide 5 lakh government jobs,” Sachin Pilot said while campaigning for Congress’ Silchar candidate Tamal Kanti Banik.

Sachin Pilot also campaigned for Congress’ candidate from North Karimganj constituency – Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.
