RG Kar Medical College

Guwahati : Doctors took to social media to question about safety measures for them in hospitals a day after a post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Her brutalized body had been found in a semi-nude state inside a seminar hall on the third floor of the hospital’s emergency building on Friday.

Kolkata Police has arrested one person in connection with the case after reviewing the CCTV footage in the hospital.

The four-page autopsy report revealed that the woman had bleeding from her private parts and there were injury marks on other parts of her body.

“There was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth, injuries over the face, and a nail. The victim was also bleeding from her private parts. She also has injuries in her belly, left leg, neck, in her right hand, ring finger, and lips,” it stated.

Her father claimed that he suspected that his only daughter with whom he had spoken around 11 PM had been raped and murdered and police are currently investigating about the gruesome incident.

According to the Kolkata Police officer, the incident took place at RG Kar Medical College between 3 and 6 am as she was on duty till 2 AM on Friday.

Protests erupted in the hospital after the discovery of the body of the second-year post graduate student with doctors and nurses demanding action on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Opposition also came down heavily heavily on the Mamata Banerjee led TMC government after this horrible incident.

Amit Malviya, BJP’s information and technology department-in-charge, posted on X,”More than 24 hours later, Bengal Chief Minister and Health Minister Mamata Bannerjee hasn’t said a word on the brutal rape and murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.

“But the character assassination has started. Who asked her to go to the Seminar Hall in the middle of the night, the Principal is alleged to have said. This is straight out of Mamata Banerjee’s book. Tarnish the victim, destroy her reputation so that parents are forced to withdraw their complaint. Incidentally, Sandip Ghosh, Principal of RG Kar MCH, was transferred to Murshidabad in Oct 2023, for his involvement in a scam. But he was brought back within 3 months, given his proximity to the TMC.

“BJP Bengal President Dr Sukanta Majumdar also wrote a letter to ED demanding investigation against him. Mamata Banerjee’s operation cover up has begun in right earnest and with such venally corrupt people at helm of the hospital, it won’t be long before the matter is hushed up,” he added
