The Myanmar Army on Thursday arrested two prominent anti-military leaders in the country.
The army arrested prominent trade union leader Daw Myo Aye and another campaign leader Wai Moe Naing, who are opposing the military rule in Myanmar.
Daw Myo Aye is the director of Solidarity Trade Union of Myanmar (STUM) in Myanmar.
Informing about Aye’s arrest, SOMO, an independent and ‘not-for-profit’ knowledge centre on its Twitter handle on Thursday said she was forcibly taken away by the Myanmar Army from her office.

“We are concerned about the trade union leader Daw Myo Aye, director of Solidarity Trade Union of Myanmar (STUM) in #Myanmar, who was arrested today. She was forcibly taken from her office by the army today,” SOMO tweeted.

The Myanmar security forces also arrested another leader of the campaign against military rule, Wai Moe Naing, after ramming him with a car as he led a motorbike protest rally.
“Our brother Wai Moe Naing was arrested. His motorbike was hit by an unmarked police car,” Win Zaw Khiang, a member of a group organizing protest, said on social media.
The Civil Disobedience Movement while sharing the news of Wai Moe Naing’s arrest has appealed to the international community and media to pay attention to the matter of Naing’s arrest.
The Civil Disobedience Movement tweeted: “Wai Moe Naing is a high-profile leader organizing daily protests has been arrested by the military junta today. We appeal to international community and media to pay attention to Ko Wai Moe Naing and Monywa.”

It has been reported that Wai Moe Naing, the anti-regime protest leader in Monywa, Sagaing Region, was beaten and dragged away by junta forces after having his motor scooter rammed on Thursday afternoon.
In another tweet, the Civil Disobedience Movement said according to social media reports, the junta’s soldiers and police are now targeting Muslim neighborhoods in Mandalay, who were protecting the marching medical doctors, students and nurses.
