In an unprecedented development, fighter jets of Myanmar military bombed a village near the Country’s border with Thailand.
At least 3 civilians were reportedly killed and 8 others sustained grievous injured in the bombing.
The air strikes were carried out by the Myanmar military on Saturday, the day when the Country’s forces celebrated its ‘Armed Forces Day’.
The village where the bombing was carried out is a territory controlled by an armed ethnic group.
The Karen National Union (KNU), an armed ethnic group controls the south-eastern region.
The KNU said that Myanmar military fighter jets attacked Kawthoolei, an area controlled by the armed group.
“3 villagers were killed and 8 injured when bombs were dropped into villages from air attacks in Kawthoolei (Karen State),” the KNU said.

This air strike by the Myanmar military, targeting civilians, can be seen as a retaliation to the attack by the KNU on Myanmar Army base.
Earlier on Saturday, the KNU said Brigade 5 forces overran an army base, killing 10 soldiers including a lieutenant-colonel, as the junta celebrated its annual Armed Forces Day.
The KNU says it has been sheltering hundreds of people who have fled central Myanmar amid mounting violence in recent weeks.

Saturday was by far the “bloodiest day” in Myanmar as its military killed over 150 people, including children.
Deaths were reported from as many as 40 cities in Myanmar.
Myanmar’s military resorted to “shoot to kill” protestors on Saturday as thousands of anti-coup protestors took to the Country’s streets.
