Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed the union budget calling it ‘crony centric’.

Gandhi said the budget didn’t have anything to improve conditions of jawans facing Chinese aggression at the border.

“Modi’s crony centric budget means – Jawans facing Chinese aggression in extreme conditions will get no support. India’s defenders betrayed,” the former Congress chief said in a tweet.

As per the Union budget 2021-22, the Centre approved only a marginal hike of around 1.4 per cent to Rs 4.78 lakh crore for 2021-22 in defence budget against last year’s allocation of Rs 4.71 lakh crore.

On Thursday, Gandhi had said that the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were given no low-interest loans or GST relief which meant that the employers of India’s largest workforce were “betrayed”.

“Modi’s crony centric budget means — Struggling MSMEs given no low-interest loans, no GST relief. The employers of India’s largest workforce betrayed (sic),” Gandhi had tweeted.

The Congress had earlier slammed the budget, saying it was a “let down like never before”. The Opposition party had claimed that the budget will unravel soon.
