A 22-year-old youth, named as Satian, allegedly killed his father attacking with a machete on Saturday night at Birjhora Tea Estate near Bongaigaon town.
As per the local residents of the tea estate, Satian had a quarrel with his father 50-year-old Prakash on Saturday night in his residence at No 3 line of the tea estate demanding a new auto-rickshaw.
Sources said, “When Prakash refused to provide a new auto-rickshaw to his son as demanded, a furious Satian attacked his father with a machete. Prakash succumbed to his injuries at his residence before he was taken to the hospital.”
Later a police team reached the spot and nabbed Satian with the help of the neighbours and brought him to the local police station.
On Sunday morning, Prakash’s body was sent for post-mortem to the civil hospital here.
Satian is currently lodged at the lock-up of the police station here and he would be produced before the court on Monday, police said.
