Rima Das’ directorial movie Village Rockstars that won four awards in the 65th National Film Awards was screened at Vancouver in Canada on Saturday.

The film was screened in the Reel to Real Film festival at VIFF Vancity Theatre at 1181 Seymour St in Vancouver.

Set in Rima’s own village Chhaygaon near Guwahati, Village Rockstars is the story of “poor but amazing children” who live a fun-filled life.

The film opens with the children having fun as a rock band. As the story progresses, it captures the whole gamut of fun that these rural children are having despite living a life of poverty and deprivation.

Rima has also won the Best Editing award for the film which has won the Best Child Artist award for Bhanita Das. It has also been recognised for Best Location Sound Recordist Mallika Das’ work.

“We are excited for Village Rockstars Vancouver premiere at Reel to Real Film Festival today :),” Rima tweeted.
