The efforts of the Piramal Foundation, a leading system change non-profit organization having experience in the field of education and health which has been working in Darrang district as a partner of the Niti Aayog focusing on key aspects of education, primarily for student learning outcomes for the last few months has started yielding results.

Talking to North East Now, Varsha Sarma , district leader of Transforming Education , Piramal Foundation said that their organization has been working in the district to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of transforming education under the supervision of the Niti Aayog and leadership of the district administration and the district Education Department.

The change leaders of the Piramal Foundation called the ‘Gandhi Fellows’ have successfully been able to transform libraries and print rich walls as a first pilot project across seven schools.

The officials of the Foundation further informed that on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the fellows, in co-ordination with the school staff and community members, organized various events in the said seven schools, namely Garakhat LP school, Kharupetia Town LP school and Burigaon LP school , Gerimari LP school and K Bandia LP school , Maroi LP school and Sipajhar LP school under three different educational blocks of the district .

In all these schools they have established functional libraries in their schools along with BALA (Building as learning Aid) with some schools.

Around two thousand stakeholders comprising of students, community members, government officials, SMS members, PRI members etc participated in these events and displayed amazing ownership of the schools by actively participating in the process of setting up library rooms, cleaning of schools, painting of walls etc.
