Two persons have been nabbed and a suspected rhino horn recovered from their possession here on Friday.
Police are yet to ascertain whether the horn is real or a fake bamboo one which the duo were planning to sell off as real.
A source said that the duo had revealed that this was a bamboo root carved to resemble a real horn which they were planning to sell to someone for Rs 80 lakh.
Police officials said the two youths–Ranjit Kalita, 34, of Panisokuwa area under Pulibor police station and Habib Barik, a resident of Puja Dubi here–we’re nabbed by the police from near the Puja Dubi ghat at the Bhogdoi river.
The horn will have to be sent to the state forensic laboratory to verify the authenticity, police said.
