The youth wing of Trinamool Congress alleged the members of the organisation were attacked by BJP supporters in Tripura when their team was preparing for the foundation of TMC’s student wing, which is on Saturday.

Supdipta Raha, vice president of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, in a tweet said, “The attack on Trinamool Chatra Parishad workers in Tripura, while preparing for the #TMCPFoundationDay on 28th August, by @BJP4Tripura shows that our students are enough to destabilize their FASCIST BJP Government.”

TMC MP and top party leader Abhishek Banerjee’s convoy was allegedly attacked on his visit to Agartala in Tripura.

The Trinamool leader shared a video on his social media, accusing the BJP of orchestrating the attack.

“Democracy in Tripura under BJP rule. Well done (Chief Minister) Biplab Deb for taking the state to new heights,” he said in a tweet.

Abhishek Banerjee, who is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was on a visit to Tripura, where the party claims a sizeable support. Elections in Tripura are slated to be held in 2023.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leaders in Tripura allege that their student youth member Solanki Sengupta was kidnapped from Maharaja Bir Bikram College in Agartala.

The TMC youth wing claims that they went to East Agartala police station but their complaint was not registered.

They also said that they tracked Solanki’s whereabouts but ABVP members blocked them in the presence of local police.

TMC said the incident took place when they were preparing for the birth anniversary of the party.

“It’s a matter of shame as Joynagar girl Solanki Sengupta, a TMYC worker, was kidnapped from Maharaja Bir Bikram College, Agartala. When we rushed to the Polistila Outpost in the college campus, we were beaten badly by ABVP goons near the SDPO IPS officer Ramesh Yadav, who was also slapped by BJP goons,” News 18 quoted TMC leader Shakti Pratap Singh as saying.
