The Tripura government has announced an annual scholarship for students who clear the entrance examination of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC).
Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced this through a post on social media on Saturday.
Deb said that the Tripura government would provide an annual stipend of Rs 60,000 to the students once they are admitted to the military college.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on students’ education. But, overcoming hurdles, many students have been able to earn laurels for Tripura by clearing various national level exams, Deb said.

He cited the example of Sauradeep Datta, a resident of Udaipur who got the opportunity in study at the RIMC in Dehradun in 2012 and was commissioned as an army officer a few days ago.
Congratulating him, the chief minister added that Debajit Dhali, another resident of Udaipur, recently made it to the military college.
The State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Tripura conducts this entrance test twice every year in collaboration with RIMC.
“The government has decided that from now on, those who pass the entrance examination of RIMC in the eighth standard will receive a scholarship of Rs 60,000 every year,” Deb posted.
The success of these accomplished children will inspire others in the state, he said.
