Tripura is all set to introduce the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus in all the state government-run schools and government-aided schools from the 2019 academic session.

Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday informed the Assembly that the new CBSE syllabus will be introduced from classes I to XII from the next academic session.

He also informed the House that the state government will be introducing the CBSE syllabus to make the State’s education system at par with the national standard by next three years in reply to a query from Deputy Leader of Opposition Badal Chowdhury.

As prescribed by the NCERT, the academic session would be from March to April each year.

Nath said that they have prepared a detailed plan to train the teachers of government schools so they do not face difficulties in teaching the subjects of the CBSE syllabus.

He also assured the Assembly that the government has been in contact with NCERT and new books have already been started to be printed. All students will get new books within the stipulated time.

However, the local publishers of the state expressed disappointment over the government’s decision to bring books from outside the state and they might have to face losses because stock is still available with them.

During the Assembly, Opposition members Bhanu Lal Saha pointed out that confusion is prevailing among the parents and students of the state as the notification of introducing CBSE syllabus in government schools is yet to be made public, reports The Assam Tribune.

In reply to this query, Nath replied,“A notification on the government’s decision for introduction of new syllabus (CBSE) will be out very shortly”.
