Tripura Congress has expelled four of its senior party leaders for alleged “anti-party activities”. 

This was informed by Tripura Congress general secretary Partha Ranjan Sarkar via a memorandum. 

The leaders who have been expelled from Tripura Congress are: Pijush Kanti Biswas, Tapas Dey, Tejen Das and Punita Chakma. 

These four leaders had reportedly earlier announced that they resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. 

The leaders have been expelled from the Congress party for a period of six years.

Meanwhile, Pijush Kanti Biswas, who had earlier held the post of Tripura Congress president, has floated a new political party by the name – Tripura Democratic Front (TDF). 

“I have realised that we cannot work for the people by staying in the Congress,” Pijush Kanti Biswas had said. 

On the other hand, Tapas Dey, who was associated with the Congress for nearly 60 years also quit the grand old party.
