Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening and five union ministers in the national capital.

The Tripura CM and the PM had discussions on several issues.

Chief minister Deb briefed the PM about the ongoing projects in Tripura and also informed him about the implementation of various central schemes.

Sharing a few pictures of his meeting with Modi, Deb tweeted:  “Our talks today were wide-ranging. Briefed PM regarding various ongoing projects. Informed him about welfare schemes of our State & implementation of central Govt’s schemes.”

“PM appreciated our work & assured further support,” he added.

According to sources, chief minister Deb has sought more than Rs 1,000 crore to implement the ongoing projects in Tripura.

Deb placed his demands before the PM during his meeting with the latter in Delhi.

It may be mentioned that Monday (November 25) was Biplab Deb’s birthday and he sought blessings from the PM and other union ministers on the day.

Political analysts are of the view that it was a diplomatic decision by the Tripura CM to choose his birthday to meet the PM and the union ministers to seek their help for the state’s development.

The analysts have also expressed that he had chosen this date to meet the union ministers so that they cannot easily refuse him.

Official sources said after the meeting, the PM assured the Tripura CM of solving his demands.

Besides the PM, Deb also met union defence minister Rajnath Singh, health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, DoNER minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, minister of state for power & renewable energy R.K Singh, and textiles minister Smriti Irani.

During his discussion with DoNER minister Jitendra Singh, the Tripura CM sought assistance for making roads in Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas and other projects in ADC areas.

The Tripura CM, during his meeting with union health minister Harsh Vardhan, demanded assistance to establish a district hospital in Dhalai district.

The CM also sought central assistance to upgrade primary health centres in Tripura.
