Agartala: A 40-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) jawan stationed in Kamalpur in Tripura’s Dhalai district allegedly killed self on Monday.

The incident occurred near the India-Bangladesh border, where the jawan, identified as B Arun Dilip, was on duty. According to preliminary investigations, it appears that the jawan shot himself with his service rifle.

The jawan was immediately rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite medical intervention.

A detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, said a BSF official.

While the Tripura police are probing the possibility of suicide, they have not ruled out other potential scenarios.

The BSF has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of one of its personnel and has promised to provide all necessary support to the family.
