Justice Subasish Talapatra, the senior most judge has been appointed as acting Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.

Ministry of Law and Justice issued this notification on Monday night.

Chief Justice Sanjay Karol, who was the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court has been transferred to Patna High Court.

After his transfer, Ministry of Law and Justice appointed Justice Subasish Talapatra as the acting Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.

Ministry of Law and Justice also appointed Justice Akil Abdulhamid Kureshi, senior judge of Bombay High Court as the Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura.

He will be administered the oath of office and secretary by Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais in Agartala on November 16 next.

Justice Sanjay Karol took oath as the 43rd Chief Justice of Patna High Court.

Justice Talapatra also served as the acting Chief Justice of High Court of Tripura for 12 days last year, while the then Chief Justice Ajay Rastogi was elevated to the Supreme Court.
