Around 100 budding young footballers from different parts of Sikkim attended a trial for the India U-15 football team here at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok on Wednesday.

The trial was allowed only players born in the year 2003 and 2004.

The trial was conducted under the Chief Scout, Vikram Nanivadekar from AIFF and AIFF coach, Suren Chettri.

On the occasion, Sikkim Football Association president Menla Ethenpa and other officials of SFA were also present in the field.

Following the good response, it has been decided to continue the trail for Thursday as well.

While speaking to the media, SFA president Menla Ethenpa informed that SFA was grateful to AIFF for selecting Gangtok as one of the venue for the trial and hoped that couple of local footballers from Sikkim will get an opportunity to showcase their talent in the national team in coming days.

He mentioned that footballer Kusang Subba from Gangtok was already in the India U-15 team which recently visited Shanghai, China last month.

SFA feels that it is yet another feather in its cap that not only Sikkimese players are playing for the country, now we have a Sikkimese Coach also in the form of Suren Chettri in India Team, he expressed.
