Over 280 passengers of a flight were offloaded at the Kochi airport after a UK national among them was found to test positive for the novel coronavirus on Sunday.

As per reports, the man had arrived at the airport with a group of nineteen people who were on a vacation in the hill station Munnar located in Kerala.

According to an airport official, the man had joined the group to reach the airport without informing authorities in Munnar.

After the test results of the man revealed that he was COVID-19 positive, the airport authorities found that he had boarded a Dubai-bound Emirates flight.

Although, the airport authorities had first decided to offload the 19 passengers who had arrived with him at the airport, they also decided to offload the remaining 270 passengers too.

All the passengers had now been sent to a hospital for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the UK national is currently under surveillance.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has now increased to 107 with Maharashtra having the highest number of cases i.e. 31.

Kerala has so far reported 22 cases of coronavirus.
