A 30-year-old shopkeeper in Palghar in Maharashtra killed a 32-year-old female customer and then had sex with her corpse, police said.
The police on Saturday informed that the incident occurred in Nalasopara town and the accused was arrested on Friday.
He was remanded to police custody till July 12.
“We initiated a probe when a resident of Priyanka Complex on Achole Talav Road registered a complaint with us on June 27, a day after his wife went missing,” informed officials of the Tulinj Police Station.
“During the investigation we found that the victim had gone to purchase make some household items at Choudhary’s shop on June 26 and had an argument with him on the price of some goods,” police said.
“Choudhary, after the brawl, slapped the victims, dragged her by the hair to the back of the hop and slit her throat,” police added.
Police further informed that the accused at around 3 am on June 27 wrapped the deceased’s body and carried it to a jeep van parked around half a km from his shop and dumped it there.
“On June 28, locals complained of a foul smell coming from the van and eventually we were alerted,” the police added.
“A team was rushed to find the body which was later identified by her husband,” police added.
Post mortem revealed that the victim was raped after death.
Choudhary was picked up by the police after scanning nearby CCTV footages and during interrogation, he confessed to his crime.
