KOHIMA: MLA S Toiho Yeptho has secured the position of deputy speaker of the Nagaland legislative assembly.

The election for the post was scheduled for February 26, as announced by the Nagaland Speaker.

However, as no other nominations were submitted besides Yeptho’s, the NCP MLA emerged victorious uncontested.

Praful Patel, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), praised Yeptho’s dedication and service to the people of Suruhuto constituency and Nagaland as a whole.

He extended his congratulations and wished him a fruitful tenure as the deputy speaker of the Nagaland legislative assembly.

Sunil Tatkare, the national general secretary of the NCP, also conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to the MLA.

Yeptho’s election follows shortly after Speaker Sharingain Longkumer dismissed a petition aimed at disqualifying NCP MLAs from Nagaland for their support to Ajit Pawar’s faction.
