The two youths from Nagaland

In yet another incident of targeting of people from the Northeast, two youths from Nagaland were attacked by a group of locals raising question about the security of Nagas residing in Delhi.

Sources said two youths from Nagaland, who works in Aurum restaurant at Hauzkhas village in South Delhi, were attacked by a group of local people on Sunday night while they were returning from their work.

A Naga student leader based in Delhi said the group of people who were on the street first abused the duo without any reason.

Sensing troubles the two Naga youths run to save their life but six people chased them and beat them up with stick injuring them seriously, he said.

One was even stabbed twice by a broken beer bottle.

The group allegedly threatened the two Naga youths and their friends not to lodge an FIR against them.

The accused allegedly threatened that if they file complaint they would face dreadful consequences.

Delhi police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident.

The leaders of Naga Students’ Union, Delhi have demanded immediate action against the culprits involved in the incident.

The incident has raised question on the security of the people from Nagaland residing in the national capital.

“We are worried that many innocent people from Northeast have become victims of racist attack in Delhi. This not the first time that such attack has taken place,” said a Naga student leader.

The authorities must take appropriate steps and ensure security of the people from Nagaland staying in Delhi, he said.
