Shops and other business establishments in Kohima have been allowed to operate on weekdays from 7 am to 4 pm.

This was announced by Kohima deputy commissioner Gregory Thejawelie on Thursday.

He said the decision was taken in consultation with the District Task Force, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Kohima Municipal Council.

“However, commercial establishments falling under the categories of shops selling second-hand items, barbershops and salons, tea stalls and hotels, restaurants and fast food stalls may remain open only for takeaway deliveries,” Thejawelie said.

“Serving of customers inside the restaurant has been strictly prohibited,” Thejawelie added.

He said the shops selling fish, chickens and fowls, pork, beef, mutton etc. will not be allowed to open in the main markets.

All such shops have been advised to operate inside the colonies.

In a separate order, Dimapur deputy commissioner Anoop Khinchi on Thursday said plying of auto-rickshaws and taxis will be permitted in Dimapur only after receiving approval from the Nagaland government.

Khinchi said this during a meeting with the representatives of All Nagaland Taxis Association and Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union in his office.
