The United States has announced its decision to diplomatically boycott the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The Biden administration has informed that the US has decided to diplomatically boycott the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 as a symbolic protest against China’s “ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xingjiang.
However, athletes from the United States will still participate in the Olympics, but the administration will not send government officials to the games.
The same policy would also be applied to the Paralympic Games to be held in Beijing, BBC reported.

China has previously said it will take “resolute countermeasures” in the event of a boycott.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the boycott on Monday, saying that the administration would not contribute to the “fanfare” of the Olympics.
“US diplomatic or official representation would treat these games as business as usual in the face of the PRC’s [People’s Republic of China] egregious human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang,” she said. “We simply can’t do that.”
