A major fire broke out in the Dzükou Valley of Kohima district in Nagaland on Tuesday.

According to reports, the fire has destroyed the Dzukou Valley viewpoint.

The picturesque valley is known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora and fauna.

The valley is located in the interstate border between Nagaland and Manipur.

It is situated at an altitude of 2,452 metre above sea level.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority has confirmed the fire incident.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) of Nagaland has already requisitioned Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers to douse the fire.

The Southern Angami Youth Association (SAYO), which has been working for the protection of the valley and issues restrictions from time to time, will reportedly send a delegation to the fire site on Wednesday for assessing the damage caused by the fire and detect the cause of the disaster.

Earlier, an incident of devastating fire damaged the valley in November 2018.

It has been reported that the massive fire in that year was doused by the members of Southern Angami Youth Association.

Dzukou Valley is about 30 km away from Kohima, the state capital of Nagaland.
