All the mosques in Dimapur and Kohima will remain closed till June 30.

This was decided at a meeting, convened by the Muslim Council Dimapur, with all the nine major Jama masjids and few Panjagana masjids and also in consultation with Kohima Jama Masjid at Hazi Park Jama Masjid here on Sunday, Muslim Council Dimapur working president A. Rahman said in a release.

He said the meeting decided to continue with the closure in the larger interest of the society and also to lend a helping hand to the government to fight the pandemic.

Another meeting will be convened to discuss opening of the masjids after June 30 depending on the Covid-19 pandemic situation, Rahman said.

The meeting also advised all the masjid committees to disinfect their masjid premises and make necessary changes as per the guidelines for reopening in the near future.

It thanked the Nagaland government for partial modification of its May 4 order and making way for reopening of prayer houses by an order on June 10 with certain riders.
