A sensitization on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ programme was organized on Thursday at Serchhip District Panchayati Resource Centre, Tarpi Tlang, in Mizoram.

The programme was aimed at members of village councils and leaders of self help groups.

In this sensitization programme, K Saitluanga, district information and public relations officer (DIPRO) gave a presentation on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

Through this event the DIPRO apprised them about the brief action plans for the district that the district task force had already adopted.

He also discussed the origin of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ programme, its aim and objectives and other related important information for the trainee.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is a flagship programme of Government of India, introduced in 2015, and its overall goal is to celebrate the girl child and enable her education.

It’s objectives are mainly to prevent gender biased sex selective elimination, to ensure survival and protection of the girl child, and to ensure education and participation of the girl child.

The programme is operated at district level and district task force under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner for further implementation.
