Indian football striker Jeje Lalpekhlua extended a helping hand to those who are dire need of blood in Mizoram.
This comes at a time when most blood banks in Mizoram are out of stock owing to the 21-day nationwide lockdown.
Sources informed that the 29-year-old footballer rushed to Synod Hospital in Durtlang to donate blood as soon as he came to know that the hospital was in dire need of blood.
“Due to the lockdown blood units are not readily available nowadays. So the hospital connected with the Young Mizo Association (YMA) is seeking help. The news reached me and I knew immediately what I needed to do,” India Today reported quoting Jeje.
Adding further the prolific striker said that one cannot sit idle and do nothing in such crunch situations.
As per information, when the YMA circulated the news, 33 persons volunteered to donate blood, out of which 29 were deemed fit to donate.
“It is the human race that needs to stick together and fight united and the question regarding me or someone else is out of the question,” Jeje further said.
The YMA is Mizoram’s largest non-governmental voluntary organisation.
The YMA, apart from operating in Mizoram, also serves in a few other states from the northeast.
