Mizoram health minister Dr R Lalthangliana called on Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and discussed the present Covid-19 scenario in the state.
Lalthangliana also informed about the state government preparedness in view of the third wave of the pandemic and also the state’s requirements for such preparation.
He urged the Union Minister to immediately start the construction of Superspeciality Cancer Hospital in Aizawl, which is a Rs 500 crore project under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
He also submitted a technical appraisal report to the Union Minister to this effect.
Lalthangliana also informed Mandaviya about Mizoram health system strengthening project under World Bank, Rs 480 crore projects under RIPANS, which has been stalled for many years and several problems, including salary, faced by teaching and non-teaching staffs of RIPANS.

Mandaviya on his part assured the Mizoram health minister of help.
He also lauded the state government for its battle against Covid-19 and performance at vaccination.
Lalthangliana also called on DoNER secretary Dr. Inder Jit Singh and other important officials in Delhi.
During his meeting with Singh, Lalthangliana talked about the importance and possibility of utilising 10 per cent of Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) receive by the Northeastern states for the implementation of the National Education Policy.
The health minister also urged the DoNER secretary to reconsider the proposal for the construction of Ayush hospital across 11 districts of Mizoram.
