Meghalaya has registered two more COVID19 positive cases taking the total to 9.
This has been confirmed by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma.
The chief minister said both the new cases are relatives of the state’s first COVID19 patient who has passed away.
Informing about the new positive cases, chief minister Sangma tweeted: “2 more cases have tested positive. Both are family members of the first patient.”

The first COVID19 positive case was detected at Bethany Hospital on April 13.
The state registered the first COVID19 death case with the demise of Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, who was the director of Bethany Hospital and now, the state has 8 positive cases.
Meanwhile, 552 samples have been tested for the virus out of which 306 results have been declared, the chief minister informed.
“We have 7 positive cases (including the deceased individual) and 299 have been tested negative. We currently await 246 test results,” the CM added.

While 214 samples were collected from Bethany hospital alone, 270 samples were collected from other institutions.
The number of inpatients and attendees, who have been asked to stay at Bethany Hospital, is 106 and the number of staff members is 80.
The number of people who have been quarantined in corona care centres is 91.
According to a bulletin it has been established that the first COVID19 positive case has 140 primary contacts and 4000 secondary contacts.
“The State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that we are able to tackle the situation. There are challenges but what is important is to be able to rectify and improve on the different shortcomings and challenges that we face,” chief minister Conrad Sangma tweeted.
