COVID19 positive

An elderly citizen, who came to Shillong from Ri Bhoi district, has tested positive for COVID19.

This has been confirmed by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

However, the infected person was isolated on his arrival in the city and is currently in Shillong.

He is stable and under the supervision of the health department.

“An elderly citizen who had come from Ri Bhoi District has tested positive for COViD19. The person was isolated on arrival and is presently in Shillong. Person is stable and under supervision,” chief minister Sangma tweeted.

With the new case, the number of active COVID19 cases in Meghalaya stands at 26, the chief minister said.

Of the total 40 positive cases registered in Meghalaya so far, a total of 13 COVID patients have recovered from the disease.

The deadly disease claimed Meghalaya’s first COVID19 positive patient.

With nearly 10,000 new positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID19 tally on Tuesday hit a new high, crossing the 2.66 lakh-mark while the death toll has crossed the 7,400-mark.

Assam has registered the highest number of COVID19 positive cases in Northeast India and crossed the 2,800 mark.
