With the expiry of one 79-year-old man, the death toll due to COVID-19 and co-morbid health conditions in Manipur rose to 52 on Friday, officials said.
“In the last 24 hours, one male aged 79 yrs from Churachandpur expired at JNIMS,” says COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal in its daily bulletin on Friday. “The cumulative number of deaths is 52.”
It may be mentioned that the State reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29 while the first COVID-19 positive case on March 24.
Meanwhile, 113 persons (75 male 38 female) from the general population and 64 from Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, the bulletin said. They are from eleven districts of the state, it said. Ten persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 103 are locals without any significant travel history.
They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, it added. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
On the other hand, 90 persons were discharged from six COVID Care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test in the past 24 hours, it said.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,607 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,629, it added. The number of active cases is 1,926. The recovery rate is 77.01 per cent.
As of Friday, 3,68,295 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 2,04,871 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the state surveillance officer of the integrated disease surveillance programme.
