Manipur Assam: Suspected robber injured in police firing while attempting to flee in Kokrajhar

Imphal: A 40-year-old widow was shot and injured by unknown miscreants at a place on the Phadibi road under Nambol police station in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Saturday night, officials said on Sunday.

Moirangthem Baby, 40, wife of (late) M Biswajit, a resident of Tentha Khunu village in Thoubal district was abducted from her rented house located at Lamphel in Imphal West district on Saturday at around 7:30 pm.

She was later shot and injured in her left calf by the miscreants in the Nambol area.

Following a report, a team from the Nambol police station picked up the injured widow and was rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Nambol. Later she was shifted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal for further treatment.

The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established.

No outfit or individual has claimed responsibility for the action.

Police, however, stated that a case has been registered in this regard.
