The Covid-19 situation in Manipur continues to be grim with seven people succumbing to the disease within the past 24 hours in the state.

With this, the total Covid-19 death toll has reached 318 in the state.

On the other hand, 138 people including 16 Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) personnel have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, pushing the state’s Covid-19 tally to 26,534.

Manipur health department claims the Covid-19 recovery rate in the state to be 87.81%.

The state of late has been witnessing a spike in positive cases.

The Union health ministry had even deputed a three-member health team to the state to take stock of the Covid-19 situation here.

The team was to interact with the state government and local administrations to devise ways to curb the spread of the virus as well as ensure timely quality treatment to the affected persons.

Chief minister, N Biren Singh also inaugurated a 100-bedded dedicated Covid-19 block in the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal East district.
