The 37th edition of the National Junior Kho Kho Championship was kick-started at the Basu Ground in Khangabok, 25 km south of Imphal town in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Monday.
Manipur Education and Labour Minister Th Radheshyam attended the inaugural function was the Chief Guest which was attended by Wangjing-Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen.
The key functionaries of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) including MS Toyagi, BS Trithi and North East Zone President RP Baruah were also present at the day’s colourful inaugural function.
The five-day championship was organised by the Manipur Amateurs Kho Kho Association in collaboration with the district administration of Thoubal district,
Altogether about 1000 kho kho players, officials representing various States of the country besides other members of the KKFI are participating in the championship.
Earlier, exclusive rendition of Dr Sangita Kakati, a very popular singer of Assam who needs no introduction as a singer and musician, enthralled the audience during the day’s inaugural function at the Basu Ground in Khangabok.
