Preparations for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections 2019 in the districts of Manipur have been going on in full swing and the District Election Offices are making all out efforts to conduct the elections smoothly after the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct.
The Deputy commissioner and district election officer Lalithambigai K of Kangpokpi district and superintendent of police, Hemant Pandey of Kangpokpi district conducted a training cum briefing programme of the election expenditure monitoring (EEM) team which comprises flying squad team (FST), static surveillance team (SST), video surveillance team and police Tteam at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi, 45 km north of Imphal on Monday.
During the training, deputy commissioner Lalithambigai instructed all the sector magistrates and police teams to strictly abide the instructions. SP Hemant Pandey also advised the FST and SST members that if any case of violation of MCC is found, it should be dealt with correct procedures.
On Sunday, deputy commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia of Churachandpur district appealed to the people to extend maximum cooperation for the successful conduct of the upcoming election and to make the election experience a better one.
He also said that the District Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) is scanning the presence/elements of paid news and related cases on various mass media (newspapers, TV, Radio and social media platforms) and submitting reports to the Chief Electoral Office on a daily basis.
He also urged all concerned to make best use of 1950 helpline and cVigil (Android based App) for any complaint relating to violation of MCC. He appealed the denizens of the district to download the cVigil App, where a citizen can lodge complaint incognito. He said that political parties can use SUVIDHA App for seeking permission for any political meeting/rally and events.
The Joint Control Room of the security personnel will be functional soon, he added. Engineers from BEL will be arriving here shortly for commissioning of EVMs in the district.There are also reports of making preparation in other districts in view of the upcoming elections.
