Guwahati: The Manipur government has announced that curfew in all areas of the state’s four districts – Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Thoubal – will be relaxed from 5 am to 8 pm on Wednesday (September 18, 2024).

The decision comes in view of the improvement in the law and order situation in these districts.

The move is also aimed at facilitating the public to purchase the essential commodities, including medicines.

However, the relaxation will not allow any gathering, sit-in-protest, and rally, among others without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.

Movement of individuals belonging to essential services has however been exempted from further imposition of curfew after expiry of the period of relaxation as stated.

The respective district administrations had imposed curfew in the valley districts from 11 am of September 10 in view of the deteriorating law and order situation due to the protests by the students.
