Imphal: A joint team from the Border Security Forces (BSF), Assam Rifles, and Manipur police raided a total of seven villages and discovered a slew of weapons hidden at the hideouts of the armed miscreants operating in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the state, an official report said on Wednesday.
Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition, the joint team conducted operations at the villages of Mongjarong Khunou and Old Nungnang village, in the Noney District dominantly inhabited by the Nagas.
The team also carried out operations at the villages of Lailoiphai, Dongjang, and Hengken, Churchandpur District predominantly inhabited by the Kuki-Zo people.
Later, the joint team also raided the hideout of the miscreants in Maojang village of Tengnoupal District predominantly occupied by the Kukis tribes.
At the hill range of Purum Khullen Village in Kakching District mainly occupied by the Meiteis, the team also recovered arms ammunition, and other weapons in the operation.
The operations successfully yielded the seizure of a 5.56 HK Assault Rifle, a 7.62 Rifle, a Carbine Machine Gun with a magazine, three .32 Pistol with magazines, three Lathode Grenades, two Handheld Radio Sets, three live round ammunition, one Tactical Pouch with a belt, three Bullet Proof Jackets, one local made Pompi, four SBBL gun, one Sig-Sauer pistol, three IED, one Sling, three Tac phone along with battery, one Combat Dress, and a Sleeping Bag.
However, no arrest has been made in the operations.
The seized weapons were handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal actions, the reports added.
