Assam Rifles troops deployed in Nagaland have apprehended two cadres of two separate factions of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) in the state within two days.

In a joint operation, carried out by Assam Rifles with Nagaland Police, an active cadre of NSCN (Nikki Sumi group) was apprehended on Sunday.

According to Assam Rifles, the NSCN (Nikki Sumi group) cadre was involved in the kidnapping of a truck driver.

The joint team of Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police was able to rescue the truck driver successfully.

The kidnapped truck driver was rescued from the general area of Khehokhu village in Nagaland’s Dimapur.

“#AssamRifles in a joint operation with Nagaland Police on 13 Jun apprehended an active cadre of NSCN (Nikki Sumi Group) rescuing the kidnapped truck driver from General Area Khehokhu Vill, Dimapur, Nagaland,” the Assam Rifles tweeted.

In another operation carried out recently, Assam Rifles troops apprehended a cadre of the NSCN (KN) and recovered 10 boxes of brown sugar from his possession.

It is estimated that the recovered consignment of brown sugar would cost Rs 35,000 in the market.

Informing about the seizure, the Assam Rifles in a tweet on Monday evening said the operation was carried out jointly with Nagaland Police.

The operation was conducted in the general area of Burma Camp in Dimapur, the Assam Rifles wrote on its Twitter handle on Monday.

“#AssamRifles on 11 June in a joint operation with Nagaland Police apprehended an active cadre of NSCN (KN) and recovered 10 boxes of Brown Sugar worth Rs 35 Thousand at General Area Burma Camp, Dimapur District in Nagaland,” Assam Rifles tweeted.
