Several landslides triggered by incessant rains in between Shamator-Chessore have damaged roads and completely cut-off villages like Rurur A & B, Shiponger, Kiutsukiur, Kephor, K Lungsorü, Kelongrü, Lungtokru,Y Anner, Tsashir and Muleangru under Shamator sub-division of Nagaland.

People in these villages have been adversely affected due to shortage of essential commodities and medical aid.

According to reports, the only life line from Kuthur village, connecting both Chessore and Shamator Hqs has also been totally cut-off due to landslides.

Meanwhile, villagers have appealed to the government for clearance of the road since the villages have been totally cut-off from the rest of the State.

The Konyak Union, Tobu branch and Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has also sought immediate intervention of the State Government to end the woes of the masses of Tobu sub-division.

In a joint statement, Konyak Union, Tobu branch president S B Poangba Konyak and TASU president, A Sangti Konyak said Tobu had been cut off for almost two months now following landslides caused by the recent monsoon rains.

They pointed out that continuous mudslides at Tesang Nallah, 60 km from the sub-divisional headquarters, which began on July 27, had completely cut-off the sub-division from district headquarters, thereby creating utter misery for people of Tobu area.
