Ahead of the final draft publication of the NRC on July 30, discovery of half-burnt documents at Hojai on Saturday has triggered sensation in the area.

The incident has taken place at the outside of the Revenue Circle Officer’s Office. According to some citizens documents related to NRC of multiple blocks were found in half-burnt condition.

Officials of the Hojai Revenue Circle Office, however, claimed that these were not NRC related documents rather waste materials which were set on fire to clean up the office.

Deputy Commissioner of Hojai, Manvendra Pratap Singh said, “Every document of NRC is available in digital format. Not a single paper related to NRC process is destroyed. The complete draft of NRC is already ready. There is no reason to worry”
