As most of the puja committees of Durga Puja try to attract devotees to their pandal with innovative themes, the Kohima Bazar Durga Puja Committee in Nagaland this year dressed up the idols of Goddess Durga and other deities in traditional Naga attires to draw devotees’ attention.

The Durga Puja idols with Naga traditional attires, through which the puja committee of Kohima Bazar has tried to promote the Naga ethnic dress, attracted visitors towards the puja pandal.

The initiative of the Kohima Bazar Durga Puja Committee has been lauded everyone in Kohima.

It may be mentioned that the Hindu devotees formed the Kohima Bazar Durga Puja Committee in 1961 in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland which is a Christian State.

As per a report published by All India News, Kohima on its Facebook page on Thursday Nagaland Governor PB Acharya, who along with his wife visited the puja mandap on Wednesday, has called on the people to strive and build a world free from malice and full of brotherhood and compassion.

Addressing the gathering at the Durga Puja celebration in Kohima, the Governor called for all to work towards building a strong Nation in general and Nagaland in particular.

The report also stated that Governor Acharya encouraged all to perform ones duties righteously and said that good results will definitely follow right actions.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Govornor also visited Durga Mandirs of the Hindu Navyuk Sangh, Durgabari and Gorkha Singhadevi Mandir and the Durga Puja Committee Phesama, Shree Shree Durga Puja Committee Lerie and High School Durga Puja Committee.
