Around 650 numbers of additional assistant (contractual) teachers working under the ‘scheme of strengthening  of secondary education’ have formed an association named All BTAD Secondary Education Additional Assistant Teachers Association to get rid of so many illegal practices of departmental administration  and demanding BTC administration as well as Assam Government Education Department to regularize their jobs from contractual which they have been giving service since last 2011.

Briefing media persons at Kokrajhar Press Club on Monday, Kalicharan Basumatary, president and secretary Fwjwndao Basumatary of the teachers’ association, said “we have been giving the best teaching device for core subjects like English, mathematics, science, social science,  etc in the secondary education in entire BTAD since 2011. Since we were selected by a high level interview system of concerned board of authority and the High Court even directed for further regularization of our service by order dated 26/92014 (W A no 360/14 ).

The government had a cabinet decision with an office memorandum vide number PMA (S) 32/2010/242 on 03/03/2016 to regularize the jobs against the lying vacancies respectively.  But without implementing this OM, the director of secondary education, BTC arranged a BTAD special TET in many cities of Assam like Tempura, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Hungary,  Shinto,  Bongaigaon etc instead of BTAD with the help of TET empower committee Assam, the teachers’ body alleged.

They also said that, the secondary education, Kokrajhar, BTC published an advertisement of graduate teachers on July 5 2017 to fill up the vacancies.

“Therefore, we approached to the High court against the illegal process of interview since office memorandum vide number PMA (S) 32/2010/242 is yet to be implemented. The honourable High Court observed properly and served an interim order not to take any further step for the said interview process,” the organization leadership had said.

“Unfortunately, we have come to know that many appointment letters have been given away to the candidates by the Director of Secondary Education, BTC. Further it’s a big question that without a proper documentation and publication of the interview, how appointment letters can be issued?” they questioned.

Therefore, the association has come to a decision to start a demonstration by boycotting classes until and unless the current illegal appointment is abandoned.
