Outgoing Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (retd) Nirbhay Sharma was accorded a ceremonial farewell by the Mizoram government.

Sharma completed his tenure on Monday after serving the state for three years since May 2015.

The farewell function organized at Raj Bhavan in Aizawl was attended by State Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, his Cabinet colleagues, top officials and party leaders.

An emotional Sharma said his stint at the Governor of Mizoram was ‘very satisfying’.

Sharma also showered praises on the high literacy rate of Mizoram.

The outgoing Governor also said that the Mizo society is very law-abiding.

He further said Mizoram is receiving increasing attention from the Centre and recent visits of the President, Vice-President and the Prime Minister to the state have created a fair amount of momentum and expectations, which can go a long way for development in Mizoram.

Sharma was the State’s 22nd Governor who had assumed charge on May 26 in the year 2015.

Meanwhile, the incumbent governor, Kummanam Rajasekharan, is being sworn in on Tuesday.
