Golaghat was adjudged the best district in the Assam Fire and Rescue Games 2019, competition in zone 3 held for the first time at Teok Public Playground in the district today.

Organised by Assam Fire and Emergency Services, the games aim to test the skill and efficiency of the personnel of fire and emergency services by selecting the best district in the zone.

Zone 3 comprises of three districts of Jorhat, Golaghat and Majuli.

Superintendent of Police, Jorhat district, P Vaibhav C Nimbalkar was the chief guest in the event  and other guests present were included  Jayshree Khersa, deputy director, Assam Fire and Emergency Services, Imdad Ali, Additional SP, Jorhat and Dr NM Rahman, police doctor among others.

Such games will be held in every zone. The six events in the game include fire fighting hurdles games, ultimate fire-fighters games, four men water tender drill, knots and lines, bandage handling, IR boat assembling and disassembling.

Conducting such competition on emergency services or exercises is expected to  automatically increase the level of the self confidence of the fire personnel of the state and also help them to increase the skills of the firemen.  It will also carry better public awareness for brisk preparations during emergency period.
