Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will reach Guwahati on Saturday for a two-day long visit to Assam.

This is his first visit after the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) lapsed in Rajya Sabha on February 13.

Prior to the Lok Sabha polls, the saffron party chief will hold discussions with the members of the party and also likely discuss poll strategies with the NDA allies.

Recently, NDA allies National People’s Party (NPP), Mizo National Front (MNF) voiced their displeasure against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Also Assam’s regional party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) had walked out of the coalition with BJP in opposition to the Bill.

Shah is also scheduled to address a rally in Lakhimpur on Sunday.
